Alba’s medical and scientific direction
Expertise behind your personalised pathway
Alba connects clients with specialist medical teams supported by a scientific approach to personalised and regenerative medicine. Individual assessment and clinical interpretation guide each pathway, with medical decisions made by your treating team.

Professor Karim Nayernia
Alba Medical Director and Scientific Director
Professor Karim Nayernia is Alba’s Medical Director and Scientific Director, a biomedical scientist whose work brings together molecular genetics, stem-cell biology and personalised medicine. His scientific perspective supports Alba’s focus on understanding individual biology before planning a pathway into regenerative and longevity medicine.
ACADEMIC BACKGROUND
His academic career developed at the University of Göttingen in Germany, where he completed his doctoral dissertation in 1993. In 2003, he earned his habilitation in Molecular Human Genetics at the university’s Medical Faculty, an advanced academic qualification supporting independent university teaching and research. His work at that stage included the molecular genetics of germ-cell tumours.
RESEARCH
In 2006, he joined Newcastle University’s Institute of Human Genetics as Professor of Stem Cell Biology. His research has explored the development and properties of stem cells, including germline stem cells and their capacity to generate other cell types in experimental settings. His publications have also examined reproductive biology and cancer-related molecular processes, including research into breast-cancer stem cells. This work forms part of the scientific investigation behind potential future therapies, distinct from the evidence and availability of any individual clinical treatment.
P7MEDICINE
Professor Nayernia is Founder and Director of the International Center for Personalized Medicine, P7MEDICINE, in Düsseldorf. His approach connects genetic and molecular information with individual assessment, prevention, treatment planning and monitoring. It reflects a broader shift towards understanding biological differences between people and considering how those differences may influence care.
WITHIN ALBA
Within Alba, he provides medical and scientific direction for this personalised approach. He helps bring the science into the conversation about assessment-led programmes and emerging regenerative medicine. Each client’s treating clinicians remain responsible for medical assessment, diagnosis, prescribing, suitability, consent and delivery of care, with the clinical team confirmed for the agreed pathway.

Specialist care around your individual needs
Alba introduces you to the appropriate clinical team for your pathway. Your clinicians review your history and findings, explain recommendations and confirm your protocol, treatment arrangements and follow-up. Alba remains your personal point of contact for introductions and practical continuity.
